The South Central Agricultural Research Laboratory has been charged with developing and improving technologies necessary to introduce and sustain diversified, alternative farm enterprises in the Southern Plains. To accomplish this task, the advisability of introducing, or improving, vegetable production in the Southern Plains is being investigated. Several vegetable crops have been evaluated and the most promising have been selected for further investigation. It is the aim of this site to present the results of research that have identified suitable production systems for an individual vegetable crop, or combinations of crops. In addition, the results of varietal trials, which for the most part, have been gleaned from other sources will also be provided. Production systems results will be updated on a continuing basis, and new information from varietal trials will be provided as they become available. It is the hope that this site will provide valuable assistance to those interested in diversifying their farm enterprise systems. Please feel free to contact me with questions. In addition this site also provides a link to the activities occurring at the Lane Experiment Station which houses scientists from ARS and Oklahoma State University doing individual and cooperative work on a number of other projects.
