Add all fertilizer preplant at rates recommended by soil tests. A starter fertilizer, normally a soluble product, is added at transplanting.

Transplanting window: 15 August to 1 September using 6-week-old transplants.

WaterNormally fall precipitation is sufficient so that additional irrigation is not necessary. It is suggested that water be applied at transplanting. In particularly dry years approximately 2 inches of water per week is needed.
